Canadian health officials still evaluating need for PCR test requirement for travel | FULL

Canada’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Theresa Tam says Canadian health officials are still evaluating whether or not fully vaccinated Canadian travellers will still need the PCR test requirement. Tam made the comments during The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) update on Friday morning.

Tam also said they’ve provided their U.S. counterparts with all the data needed to decide whether or not those who are fully-vaccinated with mixed vaccine doses will be accepted for entry. U.S. health officials, Tam said, are still mulling their decision.

Fully-vaccinated Canadians will be able to cross into the United States by land for leisure trips starting Nov. 8, the White House has said.

In a tweet Friday, White House assistant press secretary Kevin Munoz confirmed the date for the new border policy – a moment 20 months in the making. “This announcement and date applies to both international air travel and land travel. This policy is guided by public health, stringent, and consistent.”
