Coronavirus Survivor Had To Relearn How To Walk After Coma

After spending nine days in a coma and relearning how to walk, a COVID-19 survivor wants people who are protesting the work-from-home measures to learn something about the virus.

Woman Spends Nine Days In Coma Due To Coronavirus

Due to a tube being stuck down her throat for a total of nine days, Leah Blomberg’s voice is still raspy. Her muscles are also still very weak, even taking her as long as 45 minutes to take a quick shower. Despite this, she’s glad. She is a coronavirus survivor after all.

However, she also wants people to know something, especially the protesters who recently took to the streets for a demonstration that calls for the loosening of the state-mandated stay-at-home measures provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. government.

“I spent 9 days in a medically induced coma, on a ventilator due to this virus. I spent another 9 days in the ICU having horrible hallucinations from the meds,” she said on a recent Facebook post. “I basically had to learn how to walk again due to muscle atrophy from being 100 percent bedridden for 2 weeks. I’M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE . Stay in your house. Take the money they government is giving you. … Stop complaining and be thankful for your health. Thank you Governor Evers for caring more about our HEALTH than our WEALTH.”

Her post then gathered both praise and criticism from people all over the country.

Per Blomberg, she said that she empathizes with the protesters who are now struggling financially because of the lockdown since she too lost her job as a real estate agent when the pandemic hit. However, she still echoed the sentiments aired by health officials, agreeing that the state (and country) simply isn’t ready to reopen because the outbreak is far from being under control. In fact, with America now having the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, she believes extending the quarantine period is necessary.

“If you’re in a hospital bed, you’re not making any money anyway. In fact, you’re putting yourself in further debt,” Blomberg said in a recent interview.
